Sunday was a new record: ≈387 Checkers Sixty60 bikes in one day

On Sunday 1 November 2026, an estimated 387 Checkers Sixty60 delivery bikes used one residential street in Cape Town as a shortcut, 288 of them seen on camera. It's the busiest day since recording began in May 2026, four months after Checkers said the shortcut was blocked.

Evidence note

Sunday was the busiest day yet.

  • Sunday 1 November 2026: ≈387 Checkers Sixty60 bikes on our street (288 seen on camera). The old record was ≈362, on 11 October.
  • That's one about every two minutes, from 8am to 8pm.
  • Saturday was ≈351, so the weekend came to ≈738, also a record.

Date: 1 November 2026

Sunday 1 November was a new record. ≈387 Checkers Sixty60 delivery bikes went past my home, and the camera caught 288 of them. The previous worst day was ≈362, three weeks ago.

Saturday wasn't much better at ≈351 (261 seen). That's ≈738 in one weekend.

What 387 actually means

A number that big is hard to picture, so here's what Sunday was like on our street:

  • If you sat down for Sunday lunch from 12 to 2, ≈84 Checkers bikes went past while you ate (65 seen on camera).
  • Put the kettle on and the next one usually went past before it boiled.
  • From 8am to 6pm, the longest quiet stretch was nine and a half minutes. It happened twice.

And that's only the bikes the camera caught. It misses some, so the real gaps were even shorter.

On 3 July Checkers told us the shortcut had been blocked. It's got busier every month since, and now we've had the busiest day since I started counting in May. They've been told for over two years. I honestly don't know what else to say to them anymore.

Every bike from Sunday is on the evidence page, with a photo. If you live with this too, please make it public.

Private complaints were ignored for months. Public reviews are much harder to ignore.
